Since April 2023, the rooftop of the Academy of Theatre and Dance is home to a small community garden: with folks from all departments, intersecting staff and students, we are collectively engaged in this small process of world-building on the eighth floor, overlooking the centre of Amsterdam.
The rooftop garden is becoming a gathering place for the community, both human and more-than-human. So far, all plants are thriving!
The rooftop garden also regularly hosts workshops, lectures, picnics and other kinds of gatherings to anchor ecological thought within art education.
We are inviting you to a special and long-awaited workshop: Our resident herbalist Pip Steinkamp will share her knowledge and plant magic with us in a HERBALISM WORKSHOP!
We will be working with Comfrey, growing on the rooftop, to make medicine for both humans and non-humans. Pip guides us through the process of making a salve (among other things), and will introduce us to her herbalism practice. Prepare for plant magic!

3 Please sign up here, there are limited spots in the workshop. For questions, feel free to write to tonikritzer@gmail.com.

Accessibility information: There is an elevator and no stairs on the way to the rooftop and Studio 809. The workshop will be held in English (spoken). The workshop includes a short minutes walk over the roof, and kitchen-like activities, no hard physical exercise. Please feel free to contact us if you require specific information!
